How to check your iPhone call history using Siri on iOS 7

How to check your iPhone call history using Siri on iOS 7

With iOS 7 Apple’s personal digital assistant, Siri, has learned a few new tricks, including how to check your voice mail. It may seem like something easy enough to do the old fashioned way – unlock, tap phone, tap- okay, already tired. Whether your hands are full at the moment, or you’re just too lazy to do it the old fashioned way, here’s how to get your call history and have Siri do all the work.

How to use Siri to check your call history

  1. Press and hold the Home button to activate Siri on your iPhone.
  2. Say something like Check my call history or Check my recent calls.
  3. Siri will then pull up recent calls from your call history. If you need to call someone back, just tap on their name and Siri can launch into a voice call.

How to make a FaceTime call with Siri

[#protected_0#]

How to make a FaceTime call with Siri

If you’re running [#protected_0#] on your iPhone or iPad, you can quickly and easily initiate a FaceTime video or audio call without ever opening the Phone or Contacts app. Instead, just ask Siri. Not sure what to tell her? We’ll walk you through!

How to make a FaceTime audio or video call using Siri

  1. Launch Siri by pressing down and holding the Home button on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 7 or higher.
  2. Now say something like FaceTime Audio Heather. Obviously you’ll substitute the name with one in your own contacts. You can also just say FaceTime and Siri asks you to specify whether you want a video or audio call. I prefer just cutting that step out.
  3. Wait for Siri to connect the FaceTime call.

How to make a FaceTime call with Siri

That’s all there is to it. If you’ve used Siri in the past to place phone calls, the process is exactly the same. Just preface your request with FaceTime instead!

Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul, Netflix exclusive in Europe and Latin America

Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul, Netflix exclusive in Europe and Latin America

The success of digital video services continues to rage, and the latest big news item is that in certain territories the new Breaking Bad spinoff will be exclusive to Netflix. European and Latin American viewers will be turning to their Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or any number of other Netflix compatible devices when “Better Call Saul” begins in 2014.

Starring Bob Odenkirk and co-created and executive produced by “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan, “Better Call Saul” tells the story of mall-based super lawyer Saul Goodman in the years before he became Walter White’s attorney. From parking tickets to mass murder, from slip-and-fall to bond fraud, Saul handles it all.

In the UK, the final season of Breaking Bad was exclusive to Netflix, with each episode becoming available almost simultaneously with the the U.S. TV broadcast. In this part of the world, it was previously unheard of for such a big name show to be exclusive to an online service, and here we are again with a follow up. U.S. Netflix subscribers will only get access to the content after AMC has broadcast the final episode.

Perhaps these kind of agreements are a more positive step towards the cable cutting so many of us dream about? It’s a small step, sure, but if all you needed to enjoy new, great shows was a cheap Netflix subscription and something to watch it on – which amounts to almost any device these days – then perhaps it would be possible? What do you guys think? Step in the right direction or just a kick in the teeth to folks who don’t want to get in with Netflix?

Intel Baytrail vs. NVIDIA Tegra 4: too close to call

Intel processor

The NVIDIA Tegra 4 chipset has had some trouble catching on. While the Tegra 4 is snappy, OEMs are favoring the likes of Qualcomm, or making their own chipsets. Intel also looms on the horizon, and recent benchmarking shows their new 22nm chips are primed to keep pace with the Tegra 4.

In Geekbench testing, the Intel Baytrail T chips (byt_t) were nearly identical to the Tegra 4 in single and multi-core scoring. Both ran a variant of Android 4.2 — 4.2.2 for the Intel chip, 4.2.1 for NVIDIA — and similar amounts of memory. The Baytrail T was clocked at an impressive 2.39GHz, whereas the Tegra 4 was checked at a respectable 1.9GHz.

Perhaps the real turning point was multi-core floating point operation, where the Intel chip simply blew the Tegra 4 away. When it came to single-core operation, the Tegra took the edge, but only slightly. The Baytrail chip also outclassed the Tegra 4 in memory processing.

With Qualcomm letting loose the Snapdragon, and Intel announcing Baytrail alongside a slew of new Chromebooks today, Tegra 4 implementation seems highly unlikely at this point. NVIDIA may have the Shield and Tegra Tab to showcase their wares, but other OEMs are simply looking elsewhere.
